for album sales reflected on Oricon , you have to multiply by 1.7 because the figures reflected on Oricon are not 100% accurate as they don't count CDJapan sales & other things into the equation so you have to multiply the figures by 1.7 to get a more accurate figure .

I don't know how the whole 1.7 came about .

For single sales , you multiply it by 1.75

considering that the physical sales in Japan are declining every year , for 1st week sales of fakin' pop , it seems to be a-ok at the mo .

It might hit around 150K or so & from the look of things , fakin' pop will be Ken's album not to debut at no.1 since LIFE is ...

but who cares , it's still a great album & I'm sure Ken doesn't bother about album sales , chart position & the likes anymore now .

Whats the top selling album is Ken is not at the top????

Also in my opinion, current japan "main" fan base of music is not really into ken style. But i might be wrong...Its just a lot of the times its like middle age house wives that love ken. Its hard to see young ppl talk about ken.

Ken's being held back at the top spot by Shibasaki Kou with her Single Best & The Back Best albums .

The Back Best album contains all of Shibasaki's B sides

the sales seem pretty consistent . Definitely it's possible fakin' pop can cross the mid 100K mark now !

I sure hope Ken won't mind the chart position or the album sales but he is a sentimental person, so I doubt if he'll let go of all these things.
Music is quite a subjective thing. I am a die-hard fan of Ken so I love this new album very much! And I don't quite understand how come the Japanese would prefer an actress's single best collection more. I am not against Shibasaki but musicwise, Ken's more professional and much much more talented.
Just think he deserves more support from his home country.

I know but I have a feeling the music that Ken does , it does not necessary appeal to the general public since the majority of his fans are middle age housewives .

But to me it doesn't matter anymore . Ken has been around for so long & at least he still can sell you know what I mean ?

euh...is this true? Don't think about it, cause fans here (in my country) is young enough, and also in this forum. Most of us is not in the middle age yet, right?

No offense to housewives but i dont think they'll know how to use a computer or know what a forum is~..lol

Ken is such a versatile singer. I don't think his appeal is strictly to a certain group of ppl. But again I am no teenager anymore. Taste will change when a person becomes older.
Canvas is the TV theme song of a teenage drama so I guess he/his company wants to expose his song more to the teens. But the main fanbase are still the OL in their late 20s & 30s and the housewives, I assume. They have the financial power to spend on what they like.
And Jap. housewives do go online but they mainly go to Japanese forum/fansites.

If we trust Best Artist 2007 most of his fans are women over 40 years old.
[ORICON] FAKIN' POP SALES Rankingls8

That said, this recent Oricon poll about the interest in FAKIN' POP was quite different

U're right! The highest woman fans is around 20 years (40 years took the third place) and for man is around 10 years old (40 years took the second place). This is quiet surprising!!! Shocked
